Laurence Johnston Peter (September 16, 1919 – January 12, 1990) was a Canadian educator and "hierarchiologist" who is best known to the general public for the formulation of the Peter principle.

Education is a method whereby one acquires a higher grade of prejudices.
Success is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time.
If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it.
Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
